Self Examination

My 20th high school reuion is coming up. "20" sounds so odd. Has it really been THAT long? Yes. The great conveyor belt of life moves forward.

A friend of mine I've known since kindergarden, has a 16 year old. I should be guiding my own childen through school. That's in the future. Haven't had them yet. Just a technicality.

Instead I have a Woody.
A one eyed Woody that is....
my cat.
Before January of this year, I had no idea you could drop $1,000.00 on eye surgery for pets.
One eyed dogs. No eyed dogs, bumping into walls as they made their way to the waiting room. And then there is MY cat. Folks don't call them "babys" for nothing. (I'm talking about both the pets and owners! I was in a panic!!)

On the way home from work the other day, I noticed a young woman who was overdressed for the time and area. And "call girl" came to mind. We have laws against women, or men, from having sex in exchange for cash. Now I'm not opposed to the law. But the sound of locking someone up because they have sex for a living rang odd to me as I thought about it.

It's not illegal to have sex for free.

It's not illegal to pay for pornography via internet (been there, done that).

It's not illegal to have sex for the price of dinner.

You can go to a bar, or a dance club looking for a one night stand.

It's not illegal to have sex with someone not your spouse.

You can give someone a communicable disease that will affect anther's for life.

It's not illegal to have sex on public property. (see "former Pres. from Ar.)

The church works over time to control it...

If you sign contracts and put it on film, you can rent or sell it for cash.

Media use it to sell us everything from jewelry to Uncle Ben's Rice, but if cash changes hands and penitration occurs, then it's "illegal".

Now, I don't want prostitutes in my neighborhood. I dont' want them soliciting me as I fill my gas tank. I don't want them slowing traffic as I head to work.

I don't want my future children growing up to use sex to make a living.

But if she becomes a model....

Or he gets a job in television...

Where both are sold to hundreds of thousands, it's societally "OK".

But if it's one on one...it's a no no.

All you have to do is make sure the money collected from the services rendered is distributed to as many folks as possible and you're fine.

HUH?!?
